Finishing a Pro-Am in Maryland, I had to chip from grass about a foot high behind a sand trap.
The ball bounced on the fringe and rolled to within a foot from the hole for par. I received a round of applause. I hardly remember the putt as my knees were rubber.
Being in the last group, I was last to head to turn in my scorecard and as I did this large hand came out of the crowd and a comment was made 'nice shot young man'.
That handshake was from Arnold Palmer and he one of the key reasons I respect the integrity of the game of golf.
