Bob Smith: 1984, Seve wins at St. Andrews

I was lucky enough to see perhaps one of the most inspirational sportsmen of my generation perform at his absolute peak when I went to St Andrews in 1984 to watch The British Open.

Severiano Ballesteros. A fighter, a winner, an inspiration.

To pick a favourite Seve moment is tough as there were so many, but I was there to see him hole the winning put on the 18th green and to see him pump the air in a joyous celebration that became the silhouette that is seen of Seve around the world.

The spirit of Seve lived on in the Ryder Cup in 2012

Bob Smith
